The Adolescent Sessions is a monthly event featuring 2 bands, 2 rooms, CCTV, projectors, and a lot of wiring. Presented by Billy J and Viva Radio, the series combines live broadcast recording sessions with a voyeuristic A/V experience.
The Adolescent Sessions is both a proper radio recording as well as a totally unique public experience. During the taping, a live audio and video feed is sent from the studio to a digital projector in a neighboring screening room. Unlike a conventional concert, the musicians and audience do not interact directly.
Bands who have recorded an Adolescent Session include Celebration, Tall Firs, Apache Beat, and Hopewell. The response from musicians and fans alike has been overwhelmingly positive.
Each session is scheduled for the first Saturday of each month at the Uniondocs Art Space at South 1st & Union Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Sets can last between 45 and 50 minutes, broadcasting Thursday evenings at 9 PM on Viva and stored in the archive for anytime listening.
